Connect an AI assistant to SJ Storage
What it is
SJ Storage offers a free connection for assistants that support the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It answers public questions about our storage facility in Twin Falls and reads a recent availability snapshot.
Connection details
Server URL: https://sjstorage.net/mcp
Transport: Streamable HTTP. The assistant sends HTTP POST requests and receives JSON responses. Opening the server URL in a browser does not connect an assistant.
Sign-in: none. You do not need an SJ Storage account, API key or payment. Your assistant must support remote MCP servers. Its own plan requirements may apply.
How to connect
In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors. Add a custom connector with the server URL above. No sign-in to SJ Storage is required. Check that it shows Connected.
Open a conversation, enable the connector from the + menu, and ask a question such as “What storage sizes and prices does SJ Storage publish?” or “Check the current SJ Storage availability snapshot.”
For Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds the connector under Organization settings > Connectors, then members connect. Free allows one custom connector.
For another assistant, use its remote MCP or custom connector settings. Enter the same server URL and choose Streamable HTTP without authentication.
This guide describes a custom connection. It does not claim a directory listing, approval or verification.
The ten tools
check_availability
Lists the public feed’s unit types, sizes, monthly rent, deposits and open counts, with the time checked. An optional type or size can match the feed or a published size. A published size absent from the feed is not listed as open right now.
get_units_and_prices
Lists the two unit sizes and the prices and deposits published on our website. It does not check open counts.
get_location
Gives our address, directions and nearby town pages.
get_hours
Gives the published gate and access hours.
get_features
Explains our storage features and what fits.
get_policies
Gives published policy topics and source links.
how_to_rent_and_pay
Explains the rental steps and links to payment information. It does not rent or pay.
get_contact
Gives our public phone, email, address and contact page.
search_faq
Finds answers in our published frequently asked questions.
search_site
Finds pages on this website by search words.
What it never does
The connector does not hold or reserve a unit, sign a lease, take a payment, read a tenant account or send a form. A person completes any reservation or contact request.
Data handling
The server receives tool arguments and request metadata. It uses search words or a unit filter to answer the request. It does not request chat history, user files or tenant details.
Availability summaries are normally refreshed after 60 seconds. While a refresh is pending or fails, a summary under five minutes old may be returned with its original checked time. The stored summary excludes unit identifiers, maps and personal information. The latest summary and retry timing remain stored until replaced or removed.
Netlify hosts the endpoint and stores the public cache. Error diagnostics can be logged. Hosting and security logs may include request metadata. The code does not set a retention period for those logs. Your assistant provider also handles your conversation under its own policy.
Limits and accuracy
Availability is a snapshot, not a promise. Nothing is held. The reserve step rechecks availability. Types absent from the feed are not reported as zero. If the feed cannot be read and no snapshot under five minutes old is available, the tool gives a phone number and the Availability link instead of a count.
The public feed’s prices are returned as published. Website prices may change separately. The signed rental agreement governs your rental terms.
The endpoint is limited to 60 requests a minute per IP and domain. Availability requests normally share one feed refresh per cache interval. Without a recent snapshot, a caller waits briefly, then may read the feed once if the refresh has not finished. A stored rate-limit cooldown delays another attempt.
