Price per square foot is the honest way to compare storage units, but it only means something inside one product class. A number on its own can fool you. An open gravel pad at $0.30 a foot and an enclosed indoor unit at $0.60 a foot are not the same thing priced differently. They are different products, and the cheaper number is cheaper because you get less. In Twin Falls these classes get mixed together in listings all the time, usually by accident, sometimes not. Here is how to read them.
The four kinds of storage square foot in Twin Falls
Open lot parking. A fenced gravel or paved space with no walls and no roof, for a car, boat or trailer. In Twin Falls this ran about $0.20 to $0.51 a square foot at ongoing rates in September 2026. It is the cheapest number you will see, and it is weather, dust and sun on whatever you park there.
Covered parking. The same open space with a roof over it. A little more than open parking, still no walls.
Enclosed drive-up. Four walls, a roll-up door, and you can back a vehicle right to it. No climate control and no power. This is the workhorse unit most households rent, and in Twin Falls it ran roughly $0.42 to $0.80 a square foot depending on size and facility.
Enclosed indoor. Inside a building, reached down a corridor or by elevator. Some are climate controlled, which costs more. A very small number, including ours, have an electrical outlet in the unit. This is the top of the range on price per foot, and it is also where the real differences hide.
Why a 12x30 is not a 12x30
Four facilities in Twin Falls publish an enclosed 360 square foot unit at an ongoing rate. They look identical on a size chart. They are not.

Magic Valley at $176 is the cheapest 360 square feet in town, and if you want a plain enclosed drive-up unit and nothing else, that is a strong number and I would tell you so. Our 12x30 is $210. What the extra buys is the one thing the other three do not have: it is indoors with a low-amp outlet in the unit, so you can keep a battery on a trickle charger over the winter. We have not found another 12x30 in Twin Falls that publishes power in the unit. That is the honest claim. Not cheapest, not the only large unit, the only powered one at that size that says so on its own page.
What does a 10x20 storage unit cost in Twin Falls?

That is the same 200 square feet priced from $85 to $169, which is $0.43 to $0.84 a foot. The spread is not about who is ripping you off. Twin Self at the bottom is a plain drive-up with a waiting list on some sizes. Canyon West at the top is climate controlled. Read what the square foot buys, not just the number.
So which one should you rent?
If you are parking a vehicle you do not need to keep charged and do not mind weather, open parking is the cheapest foot in town and the right call. If you are storing household goods and want them dry and secure, an enclosed drive-up is the workhorse, and Twin Self, Magic Valley and Glacier West all price it well. If you are storing something sensitive to heat or cold, pay for climate control at Bach, Spring Creek, Storage Corner or Canyon West. And if you are storing a vehicle, a battery, or gear you want indoors with a place to plug in, that is the narrow case our powered 12x30 was built for.
